TASK 6. Put the nouns in the plural form where appropriate. Pay attention to
their spelling and pronunciation.

pect to see a lot of rhino______, and lion____, but you rarely see ox____,
sheep___, deer_____ or goose______, probably because these can be seen
commonly enough in the wild. Each day large ___delivery of food arrive for the

TASK 7. Homework. Consult a grammar reference book and make lists of un-
count nouns in the following semantic groups:
o Names of substances and materials (leather, wood ),
o activities and sports (running, gardening ),
o games (billiards, cards ),
o names of subjects (mathematics ),
o languages,
o abstract ideas (love, hope    ),
o feelings (joy, shame ),
o qualities (honesty, innocence ),
o illnesses (mumps ),
o names of classes of things, or umbrella terms (furniture, equipment ).


TASK 8. Write as many sentences about true facts as you can with each of the
uncountable nouns below.
E.g. Paper is made from trees. When snow melts it becomes water.
Words to use: gold, meat, salt, rain, sand, oil, wood, water, sugar, glass, butter.
