     Stock market prices in a particular country are often affected by stock market prices
elsewhere in the world, and markets tend to move together, as indicated by the
worldwide crash in the autumn of 1987.
     The share price of any one company will obviously tend to be influenced by the
financial performance of the company, details of which are released at various times
during the financial year.
     The factor of supply and demand mentioned earlier will also tend to affect
commodity prices. A bad coffee harvest in Brazil will increase the price of coffee
because demand will exceed supply. The over-production of oil, on the other hand, will
lead to a fall in the price of the commodity, since there will be a glut of oil available on
the market.
