Упражнение 4. Переведите следующие сочетания:
• To decide family finances, to look after the home, to be involved in decision
making, to be dependent on their parents, a group ruled by a woman, to
increase the amount of time, encourage children to stay at home, to solve
problems, the differences in outlook, generation gap
• Common features (см. контрольную работу №1). They have nothing in
common. Family trips are becoming common
practice.
Упражнение 5. Просмотрите текст и найдите ответы на следующие
вопросы:
1. What factor increases the stress on husband and wife in the modern family?
2. In which family pattern are husband and wife equal companions?
3. In which family pattern do husband and wife have clearly separate roles?
4. Give three reasons why children stay at home more often today than in the
past.
5. What is the ’generation gap’?
The Modern Family
In the modern family both husband and wife are much more important to each
other as individuals than before and this increases the stress on them. They are
more likely to spend most of their leisure time together, take an equal part in
disciplining the children, deciding family finances and looking after the home.
Children are, too, more likely to be involved in decision making, but are more
likely to be dependent on their parents for a longer period.
