19 We are in the middle of an ‘information revolution’: computers, CD-ROMs,
the Internet, and mobile phones. In what ways can these technologies be good for
the environment? Discuss with a partner.
20 You are invited to take part in a reality show during which you and some
more people will have to spend three months on an uninhabited island. You are
allowed to take some clothes and any five gadgets or machines. In small groups
for 5 minutes decide what gadgets or machines you will take with you and how
you will use them. Report to the class.

Work in small groups. You’re going to invent a gadget. Discuss your ideas with
your group and then decide which is the best idea for a new gadget. When you
have decided draw the gadget and tell about it. Present your work to the class.

22 Write an opinion article about good and bad effects of
technology on our life. Consider the benefits which
technology provides on the one hand, and its potential
dangers to the modern world on the other hand. Write
