11 Look at the list of common crimes. Have you – or has anyone you know
– ever been a victim of the first three crimes? Tell your group the story. Are
they similar or different?

Ø arson
1 Whose story is the most interesting? Funniest? Most frightening? Report to the
class.
2 Would crime, or feeling unsafe, prevent you from traveling to a foreign country?
12 Play and guess!
Work in groups. Make the poem using the verses suggested. The first group
to complete the task correctly is the winner. Reflect on the crime. What
crime is it?
No signs of injury or harm were seen
They said as they lifted her from the bed
It seems no violence was used
What caused her heart to stop?
It was all internal, claimed the doctors
That caused her heart to break.
It was the soft hammer blows of words
They said, her women friends
It was a major crime
The endless drop of insults
No evidence at all
The verdict was recorded
Impossible, the experts were convinced
Cause of death unknown
To show she suffered
She died because of words
But everybody knows
More powerful than punches
It was a verbal mugging
That caused her heart to stop.
