The accuracy of Colorimeter test results is ensured by the use
of a sample large enough to be representative of the entire bale.
To reduce sampling error by accomodating a large enough sample Spinlab designed
the sample window to provide an inspected area of 12.25 square inches (79 sq cm). Also,
because the measuring system is controlled by the microprocessor, the Colorimeter
produces objective results. Test evaluations by the USDA indicate that the colorimeter
repeats itself within one grade 95% of the time. Consistent performance is guaranteed
through calibration checks using color-stable ceramic tiles to correct for voltage changes
and aging of lamps and other components.
Color grades corresponding to the universal color grade standards for cotton are
used in the 900 System.

Fiber fineness is one of the most critical parameters in all types of spinning because
