• The article recommends “using your car less”. Which harmful
effects are reduced if you do that? Make a list from information in
the text.
• Why do people love cars so much? Is it because they are
convenient means of transport – or do they have other qualities?
• Is it possible to “use cars less”? In groups, discuss these ideas:
- provide good public transport
- make it difficult for car users (e.g. expensive parking)
- cut down the need for journeys (e.g. new technology)
• Who should solve these problems – governments or individuals?
