Pre-listening task
You are going to listen to the dialogue between Barbara and Charles, a couple,
who has just moved to a new house. The following words and phrases are in the
dialogue. Check the meaning and the pronunciation in your dictionary.
sideboard (n) tighten (v) e. g. to tighten up the loose screws
settee (n) loose (adj)
screwdriver (n) fetch (v)
toolbox (n) feed (v) to be fed up with all the fuss and noise
Listening
Listen to the dialogue and say whether the following statements are true or false:
1. Barbara wants Charles to help her with the sideboard.
2. Charles is going to arrange the pictures.
3. Charles has lost his screwdriver.
4. Barbara supposes that the screwdriver is in the bathroom.
5. Their cat has gone away and they are worried.
Listen to the dialogue once again and write down the sentences with the words
given above.
Make up a similar dialogue with your partner.
