Для выполнения контрольной работы студент должен знать:
1. Лексический минимум, прилагаемый к данной контрольной работе.
2. Грамматическую модель Participle I и Participle II.
3. Грамматическую модель Passive Voice.
Для защиты контрольной работы студент должен знать лексический мини-

Задание 1. Прочитайте и переведите текст.
COD FAMILY (GADIDAE)
These are deep-sea fishes, with elongated body covered with small cycloid scales.
Head large with terminal mouth. Gill-opening wide. Vertical fins well separated. Dor-
sal fin in one, two or three sections, the latter is sometimes united with caudal, ventral
subjugular. Barbells present on the lower jaw.
There are 22 generae in the family Gadidae; within the Russia 15 generae. Gadidae
are widely dustributed in the North Sea, in temperate seas of the Atlantic and the Pacific
and in the Mediterranean. In the Russia they inhabit almost all the open seas.
Cod Gadoid fish with three dorsal and two anal fins, the anterior dorsal being but
slightly elevated. Head large, oblong, conic and pointed. The snout is at least twice as
long as

the eye. The maxilla is reaching past the front line of the eye

. Mouth large.
Ventral normal. Lateral line pale.
The cod occurs in great numbers in the north part of the Alantic Ocean, particular-
ly off the shores of Newfoundland, Greenland, Iceland, in the North Sea, in the Nor-
way and Barentz Seas. In the White Sea it is represented by the subspecies – the White
Sea cod.
The Pacific cod is related to that of Greenland and White Sea. The species occurs
in the greatest numbers at a temperature of water +0,2

C till +3,2

C. In he Bering Sea
the greatest gatherings of cod may be found at the places of the collision of cold and
warm water.
Haddock. A gadoid fish with compressed conical head and long and narrow
somewhat compressed snout. Colour gray above, whitish below, lateral line black, ver-
tical fins dark.
