How Cultures Change
Cultures change over time. Sometimes the change occurs so slowly and gradu-
ally that it is hard to notice it happening. At other times it is rapid or sudden. A
number of Western cultures, including that of the United States, experienced
rapid cultural changes in the late1960s, with the beginning of a mass youth cul-
