1. find (v) - 1) находить, встречать: I find no sense in your words.
2) убеждаться: I find it necessary to tell you everything. 3) обрести, получить:
She found my favour quickly. to find out - узнавать, выяснять: We had to find
out the time of her arrival.

2. set (v) - 1) ставить, ступать: Be careful not to set on the cat.
2) приводить в состояние: You should set your things in order. 3) повернуть:
We set our faces towards the sun. 4) подносить: I set a glass to my lips but did-
n't dare to drink. 5) устанавливать: It was difficult to set the value of this neck-
lace. 6) застывать: His face set. to set off - отправлять: At last he decided to
set off. to set back - препятствовать: She was against his plan and did her best
to set him back. to set on - подстрекать, нападать, натравливать: I think it was
your mother who set you on me. to set up for - выдавать себя за кого-то: He
sets up for a scholar.

3. turn (v) - 1) вращаться, вертеться: The handle is turning, you must fix it.
2) поворачиваться: You have to turn to the right then. 3) направить, сосредо-
точить: It's high time to turn your mind to the issue. 4) перевертываться: Every-
thing was turned upside down in the room. 5) изменяться: Luck has turned.
6) становиться: She turned red when she was told about her son's behaviour. to
turn away - отворачиваться, увольнять: She is lazy. I must turn her away. to
turn down - отвергать, унижать: I promise she will never be turned down in this
firm. to turn off - закрыть (кран): Don't forget to turn the tap off. to turn to -
приняться за что-либо: It's high time to turn to a new topic. to turn up - поя-
виться: We were shocked when she turned up.

4. fall (v) - 1) падать, опускаться: The Neva has fallen. 2) гибнуть: She
told that her husband had fallen in the battle. 3) становиться: She is absent to-
day because she is ill. 4) приходиться, доставаться: His birthday falls on Mon-
day. to fall across - встретить случайно: She was shocked when she fell
across him yesterday. to fall behind - отстать: She definitely will fall behind her
class. to fall for - влюбляться: As far as I know she fell for your son. to fall
through - провалиться (перен.): She is hopeless, I'm sorry, but she will defi-
nitely fall through. to fall over oneself - из кожи вон лезть: She is falling over
herself to make everyone like her.

resistant (a) – стойкий: You can wash the sweater, the colour is resistant.
irresistible (a) – неотразимый: Her charm was irresistible.
6. treat (n) – 1) угощение: The treat was excellent at the feast.
2) удовольствие: It was such a treat to talk to her.
