Moreover, when it comes to covering a tooth with an artificial crown,
whatever the loss of dentine, there is a necessity to reinforce the tooth with a
glass-fibre post; otherwise fractures are likely to appear in the cervical areas.
A feature of such restoration is that seal failure of a post is observed in
approximately 2-5% of cases. Fig.8. shows an example of restoration with
partially retained dentine and a tooth covered with an artificial crown.
