What does it mean to have access to the Internet? This means you are using a computer
that is a part of a network connected to the Internet. In practical terms, this means you can use
the Internet resources.
When you are using a computer, we say that you are on the Internet. In common usage, the
Internet is often referred to as the Net.
It is important to realize that a great many people who do not have full Internet access are
able to communicate with Internet users.
For example, many people use type of non – Internet mail service that can exchange mes-
sages with the Internet.
Mail and Usenet are important, but they are not everything. You may have access to all the
Internet sources, including Telnet and FTP if you use a computer that has a full TCP/IP connec-
tion with the Internet.
