Dear friends,
Let me introduce myself. My name is Caroline Parker. I’m
19 years old. I come from Brighten. Now I live in Cambridge. I’m a
first-year student at Cambridge University. Chemistry is my field.
I believe, I must explain why I’m writing all this. You see,
I’d like to have a friend by correspondence in your country, as I’m
greatly interested in Buryatia and want to know more about it.
I’ve no family of my own. My parents live in Brighten.
We’re five in the family, I have a younger sister, Alice by name.
She’s jolly and well-bred. She’s the pet of the family. My Granny
looks after her when the parents are at work. Granny is over 70, but
she is full of energy and common sense. People say, she’s young at
heart. My mother is a clerk. After work she always hurries home.
She is as busy as a bee. As for father, he’s a journalist. He’s fond of
his profession. He’s not a sit-by-the-fire, and he is often away from
home. We always enjoy his company, as we like to listen to his
interesting stories about his trips.
We are a friendly family and here in Cambridge I miss my
