Saab Direct Ignition
Part 1
The Saab Direct Ignition system is
yet another example of Saab’s
innovative technology. This ignition
system ensures reliable starting, reduced
service costs and lower fuel
consumption.
The Saab DI system is a capacitive
ignition system that has no moving
parts. The ignition timing is
permanently preset at the factory. This
ensures reliable starting in any weather-
and minimizes the service costs.

can both make a car difficult to start.
The Saab Direct Ignition system
eliminates all such problems.
The Saab DI system has no high
tension leads and no distributor cap,
both of which can provide a current
leakage path along a film of moisture. In
the Saab DI system, an ignition coil is
mounted directly on each spark plug,
which guarantees a reliable spark.
