     4)   Every time an engine is started, it emits harmful substances.

   Exercise 7. Translate the following sentences paying attention to non-finite forms
(infinitive, gerund)

     1)   To ensure the best possible performance of the converter, the fuel/air ratio of the
          mixture must be accurately controlled.
     2)   By equipping the engine with an electrical heated Lambda sensor and carefully
          adapting the fuel and ignition systems, Saab engineers have succeeded in
          minimizing the content of noxious substances in the exhaust gases.

   Exercise 8. Read the following text. Translate it. Compare with the Russian
translation given to the text. Use it as a clue if necessary.
