       2. let (v) - 1) позволять, разрешать: Will you let me smoke? 2) пускать:

       3. relate (v) – 1) рассказывать: The stories like that should be related pub-

       related (p.p) – 1) родственный: We are distantly related. 2) связанный: He
must be related to the gang we arrested yesterday.
       relation (n) – 1) отношение, связь: It bears no relation to your activity.
2) повествование: Your relation was really funny that we couldn’t stop laughing.
3) родственник: I couldn’t even imagine that my wife had so many relations.
       relationship (n) - 1) родство: You should remember your relationship every
time you want to force him out. 2) связь: I see no relationship between these
guys.
       relative (n) – 1) родственник: She didn’t have close relatives so she had to
stay with remote ones.
       4. limp (v) – хромать: The wounded soldier limped off the battle field.
       limp (n) - хромота: She can’t dance because she has a bad limp.
       lame (adj) - 1) хромой: She is lame in the fight foot. 2) неубедительный,
неудовлетворительный: The explanation sounded lame. lame duck – неудач-
ник, инвалид.
       5. sigh (n) – вздох: “He cheated me again,” – Mary said with sigh.
       sigh (v) – 1) вздыхать: Stop sighing, I know that you don’t like the story.
2) тосковать: They broke up 10 years ago but she is still sighing for him.
       6. sort (n) – 1) род, сорт, вид, разряд: People of every sort and kind aren’t
supposed to be let in. 2) качество, характер: When I saw him I understood that
he is a good sort. 3) образ, манера: She will behave after a sort, so she needs
an example. a sort of – что-то вроде, the sort of thing – тому подобное.
       sort out (v) – распределять по сортам: What a mess! It’s high time to sort
your things out.
       7. suit (n) – 1) мужской костюм: You have to give the suit to the cleaner.
2) набор, комплект: It was a very expensive suit, I spent a fortune on it.
3) судебное производство: As far as I know he brought a suit against him.
4) сватовство, ухаживание: He has been pleading her suit for 5 years.
5) согласие, гармония: They have been living in suit with her for 10 years.
       suit (v) - 1) годиться, соответствовать: He isn’t suited to be a teacher.
2) удовлетворять требованиям: Will that time suit you? 3) быть полезным,
пригодным: Meat doesn’t suit me. 4) быть к лицу: The costume doesn’t suit her
at all. Definitely not her type.
       8. talk (n) – 1) разговор, беседа: I’d like to have a talk with him about the
plot of the book. 2) переговоры: The talks continued till the morning. 3) слух,
сплетня: There is a talk that Mary stole the diamond. the talk of the town –
притча во языцех.
