Translate the following into English using the vocabulary of
the chapter
Это был тогда видный, статный молодой человек
шести футов роста, атлетического сложения, с широкими
плечами и уверенными движениями. Он был некрасив, но
по-мужски приятен на вид, с большими честными голу-
быми глазами и волнистыми светло-каштановыми воло-
сами; у него был довольно короткий, широкий нос и квад-
ратный подбородок. Он выглядел честным, чистым, здо-
ровым. Он занимался спортом.
Он был так молод, весел, прям, так заразительно
смеялся чужим шуткам, что не мог не нравиться. Он всту-
пил в обеденные клубы. Скоро у него обнаружились не-
малые способности к произнесению послеобеденных ре-
чей. Он был так мил, что его собратья писатели, его со-
временники и соперники, простили ему даже его благо-
родное происхождение.
Самая яркая черта Элроя Кира – его искренность.
Рой всегда искренне верил в то, во что в тот момент вери-
ли все остальные. Его негодяи всегда были гнусными, ге-
рои – возвышенными, а девы – целомудренными.
Он являет собой пример того, что может сделать и
до каких высот может подняться писатель благодаря тру-
долюбию, здравому смыслу, честности и умелому сочета-
нию средств и целей.
Он неплохой человек, и лишь злостный критикан
мог позавидовать его успеху.
