that have survived are carefully preserved in the city. Among them are the Lenin
House - museum, the Goncharov memorial house, the monument to Karamzin and
many others.
In conclusion I'd like to say that I'm proud of my native city. It is no wonder
that I always say, there's no place like home, East or West - home is best.

Our University
Our University is one of the youngest institutions of higher education in
Ulyanovsk. It was founded in 1957 as an Institute of part time study. Since then the
technical University has changed beyond recognition. It is situated in the northern
part of the town on the bank of the Volga and is housed in 9 buildings. Our
University numbers about 7,000 students.
There are seven main faculties at the USTU which are Radio Engineering,
Information Systems and Technology, Machine Building, Energetics, Civil
Engineering, Humanities, Natural Sciences. Other faculties include the Faculty of
Part - time Studies, the Light Industry Branch in Dimitrovgrad, the Aviation Branch,
the Municipal Liceum with a two - year course and the Open Business School.
Training at the USTU is conducted in accordance with a multilevel structure.
Upon completion of a four-year course students will be awarded the Degree of
Bachelor of Technical Sciences (B.Sc). Students have an opportunity then to
continue their education to receive the Degree of Master of Technical Sciences, and
then the qualification of the Diploma Specialist (D. Sp.) as the highest degree.
Our University equips its students not only with knowledge of designing and
technology but gives them the opportunity for carrying out research under the
supervision of highly qualified staff of each respective department. There are
Professors, Doctors of Sciences and Candidates of Sciences among our teachers.
Students at our University have excellent facilities for study. There is a good
library there where you can work on your own for studies. AH students of our
