The way to understand an address is to read it from right to left. So, the general form of all Inter-
net addresses is: userid@domain
TOP-LEVEL DOMAINS
The top level domain of an address mentioned above is edu. It tells us that the computer is
an educational institution. And here is another example: [email protected]. In which a top-
level domain of com indicates a commercial organization.
Now there are two types of top-level domains: the old-style organizational domains (as
these two examples) and newer geographical domains: ru; uk; us.
