2. КЛАССИФИКАЦИЯ ЛЕКСИКИ ПО СХОДСТВУ ФОРМЫ
ОМОНИМИЯ – совпадение формы при нетождественности содержания.
Омонимичными могут слова, формы (омоформы), аффиксы. Омонимами могут быть
слова, принадлежащие как к одной части речи, так и к разным.
Графически одинаковые омонимы называются омографы (дифференцируются
фонетически): tear /t/- tear /te/; raw /r/ - /r/, bass / bes/- /b/, etc.
Фонетически одинаковые слова называются омофоны и различаются графически:
Sun-son, pear- pair, bare- bear, cell- sell, sail- sale, air- heir, scent-sent-cent.

В речи пониманию омонимов служат контекст и ситуация.
Омонимы часто применяются в шутках, каламбурах, специально используются в
рекламе, газетных заголовках и т.д.
Ложные омонимы называются паронимами – слова похожие, но не одинаковые по
форме. Например,
Policy – politics, physicist – physician, company – campaign, personal - personnel

A Scotchman was going on an excursion to New York. He handed the agent a ten-dollar
