ILTING TRAINS UPGRADED FOR NEW LINX SERVICES
Train refurbishment is currently a thriving business in Sweden, where several
projects are underway

or about to begin.
LINX, the joint-venture

passenger operating company created by Swedish
Railways (SJ) and Norwegian State Railways (NSB), is planning to introduce 11
refurbished X2000 tilting trains on its Nordic Triangle high-speed passenger services
during 2004. Delivery of the first of these trains is scheduled in January.
SJ, which will lease the trains to LINX, was expected to award the contract by
the beginning of this month for the refurbishment of the fleet. The trains will be
stripped down completely and will have new interiors with a wooden theme. They will
have four seats per row, and every seat will be fitted with a computer screen, enabling
passengers to use the Internet or watch movies. This service, together with at-seat
meals, will be included in the price of business-class tickets.
