The 600 km/h type AGC TERs will be built in several versions. They will be
available as emus, dmus, or as dual-mode electro-diesel trains. All the trains will be
wide-bodied and separated by interconnecting gangways, low floors will be provided
throughout the train. Seating capacity will range between 160 and 200, depending on
the number of coaches. Delivery to the regions will begin in the first quarter of 2004
and production is expected to reach eight trains/month.
The latest order for Duplex trains will expand SNCF’s Duplex fleet to 82 sets by
2006. The extra trains are needed to cope with strong traffic growth on the expanding
TGV network. The TGV Mediterranee has already carried its 10 millionth passenger
since the new line opened on June 7. A new TGV line linking Perpignan and
Barcelona, Spain, is due to open in 2005, followed a year later by TGV Est.
