Each ship has her international call sign. The letters of the radiotelephone al-
phabet are used for this purpose. If the ship wants to contact some shore radio-
station she starts her transmission by calling the name of this station and its call
sign but no more than 3 times. Then the ship gives her name and her call sign, also
repeated no more than 3 times. The names of shore radio-station are given in the
Admiralty List of Radio Signal, Volume 1.
