    The productive process involves a complex flow of materials and products
among different business firms.
    This circular flow of economic activity ties together firms households, and
governments in such fashion that a change in the behavior of any group alters the
circumstances of the others and leads them in turn to change their behavior.
    Economics involves the study of these relationships and the way they fit to-
gether in a system that transmits to other parts the consequences of a change in
one of its parts.
