                            2.7.   МНОГОЗНАЧНЫЕ СЛОВА, СЛОВА-ОМОНИМЫ
        В английском языке часто встречаются слова, которые, будучи многозначными,
являются также и конверсивами. Встречается грамматическая омонимия, т.е. при изменении
грамматической формы слова одной части речи оно совпадает по форме со словом другой части
речи. Например, слово mean может быть существительным (середина, среднее число, величина),
многозначным прилагательным (средний, посредственный и мн. др.), глаголом (намереваться,
иметь в виду; подразумевать и др.); means – существительное, которое согласуется с глаголом
как в единственном, так и во множественном числе (средство, средства), ср. means – глагол в
форме Present Indefinite 3 л., ед. ч.; given – Past Participle от глагола to give, given –
многозначное прилагательное.


      Упражнение 1. Проанализируйте и переведите предложения, обращая внимание на контекст, в
котором встречается выделенное слово. Посмотрите в словаре все значения выделенных словоформ.
