But someone thinks of someone,
Old days, old times, old friends.
Yes, Christmas is a time to think of kith and kin, a time
for nostalgic reminiscing. We do think of you, especially at
this blessed time of the year. So saying we wish you a Merry
Christmas. We look forward to the news that may be in your
greeting cards.
Here is our news: Both S. M. G. and her husband, H. are
working on projects in foreign countries under the auspices
of the World Bank and/or the Agency for International
Development. S. has been heading a project in Pakistan to
build housing. She recently directed an international
conference in Islamabad. H. is directing a project for the
United Nations Development Program to reform the entire
civil service in Zambia. They have both worked in many
different countries.
From sunny California our son, T. and friend are visiting
extensively “down under”. They left in late September and
after a week in Hawaii departed for Australia. Here they
bought a Land Rover and are roughing it. (Gas is expensive
there.) New Zealand and other places that take their fancy
are on the itinenary.
J. R. appears to be making good progress at long last. The
implanted bone in her back has fused. New therapy is needed
to stretch out muscles that are “tacking down” nerves. This
is painful. J. has a lovely apartment in Cincinnati.
O. F., a charming English teacher from Leningrad and B.
K., a kindly giant from Kiev (builder of dachas and parking
garages) were our jolly house guests for a week in April.
They came under the auspices of Promoting Enduring Peace.
L. D., another charming English teacher and M. S., a
hydrogeologist were our enjoyable guests for a week in
