А из зайца утка вылетела, поднялась высоко-высоко, и вдруг сверху на неё селезень бросился, ударил еёутка яйцо
уронила (dropped), и упало яйцо в синее море...
Заплакал Иван-царевич горькими слезами (to become very upset and begin to cry) – как яйцо в море найти!..
Вдруг видитплывёт к берегу щука и держит яйцо в зубах. Иван-царевич разбил яйцо, достал иголку и начал у иголки
конец ломать (to break off). Он ломает, а Кощей Бессмертный бьётся (struggles), мечется (thrashes about). Но сколько ни бил-
ся, ни метался Кощей, сломал Иван-царевич у иглы конец. Тут Кощею и смерть пришла (and here Kaschei died).
Иван-царевич пошёл во дворец Кощея, выбежала к нему Василиса Премудрая, стала его обнимать-целовать (hug and
kiss).
А потом вернулись они домой. Стали жить-поживать (they lived happily ever after) и жили долго и счастливо до глубокой
старости (till a ripe old age).
Задания:
1. Прочитайте сказки по ролям (от лица автора и от лица каждого из персонажей сказок).
2. Придумайте свои иллюстрации к сказкам.
3. Расскажите сказки своего народа.

This is Fatima. She is my girl-friend. She is a student. Now Fatima studies Russian.
She works hard and already speaks Russian well. Fatima is from Yemen too. Her native
language is the Arabic. Fatima knows English very well.
Text 2
This is a lesson now. This is a teacher. This is a student and that is a student. The
teacher is reading and the students are listening. They are listening very attentively. Jim and
Mary understand the text well. Then Jim is reading. He is reading quickly and correctly.
The teacher says: «Jim, you are reading well». Then they are speaking Russian.

My name is David. Great Britain is my Motherland. My native town is Oxford. My
family lives there. Look, this is a photo. They are my parents. My father is an engineer and
my mother is a teacher. This is my brother. His name is Tom. Tom is a student. And this is
my sister. Her name is Emmie.

This is a hostel. This is my room. This is my friend. His name is Hassan. He is from
Indonesia. And this is my friend. Her name is Leila. She is from Pakistan. My name is
Hendrik. I am from Namibia. We are studying now. We are reading texts, writing exercises,
learning words.

Jim and Paula are my friends. Jim speaks English. Paula speaks French. I speak German. Now it is a lesson. We all are speaking
Russian. We still speak slowly and not always correctly. Our teacher speaks loudly and slowly. We are listening attentively and un-
derstand well what the teacher is saying.

Ted is a foreign student. He speaks Russian still poorly and, of course, he understands badly. Ted likes to watch TV. He watches
«The News » and says: «I understand nothing». Then, Tom watches a football match. He says: «I understand everything. It is a very
interesting programme».

In the morning I had breakfast, read newspapers and listened to the radio. In the afternoon we worked and now we are having a
rest. I am reading a magazine and Mary is writing a letter. Yesterday evening we watched TV.

On Tuesday I went to the shop and to the post-office. At the shop I bought books and at the post-office I bought envelopes and
stamps. At the post-office I met Boris and Lena. Boris said that he had bought a car.

in Russian. Maria reads Russian newspapers and magazines. She likes Russian folk songs.
My elder brother Ivan lives in Tula. He studies at the University. Before that he worked at a factory. After graduating from the
University he will work at a museum.
