Текст 3. Electronic Controls Lead the Way

Electronic circuits formerly were expensive,

bulky and sensitive to shock, heat, and moisture. So

the use of electronics was slow in coming to the

harsh world of construction machinery. But the

advent of integrated circuitry is putting electronic

control in many new types of off-highway

construction equipment.

Electronic control circuits are already used on some models, and many more

systems are planned or under development. In most of these systems, the circuit senses

some measurable parameter, performs logic operations based on this input, and then

provides an appropriate output control signal to regulate the position of some working

component such as a blade.

One of the first uses of electronic circuits in construction equipment was for

remote-control operation to remove operators from dangers in such operations as fire-

fighting, mining, and radioactive material handling. These initial systems permitted the

operator to control equipment operation from a distance but did not automate machine

functions. Now the emphasis is on logic or "machine intelligence" that assists the

operator in running the equipment.
