      Союз “while” употребляется как сочинительный союз для присоединения однородных
предложений, переводится - тогда как.
      e. g. Two groups were studied: the participants of one group (the study group) were given the
medicine while the participants of the other (the control group) - were not.
      В эксперименте участвовали две группы: участники одной группы получали лекарство,
тогда как другой (контрольной ) - нет.
      Как подчинительный союз “while” используется для присоединения придаточных
предложений времени, переводится - в то время как, пока.
      e. g. In chronic gingivitis bacterial poisons from the plaque gradually destroy the periodontal
membrane and alveolar bone; and while this is progressing, the gingival pocket deepens.
      При хроническом гингивите бактерии, содержащиеся в зубном налете, постепенно
разрушают периодонтальную мембрану и альвеолярную кость, и, пока болезнь прогрессирует,
десневой карман углубляется.
      Как уступительный союз “while” переводится - хотя.
      Союз “while” часто употребляется в обороте с причастием I. Переводится причастным
оборотом или целым предложением.
      Союз “unless” является синонимом сочетания if                not, переводится: если     не, если
только       не, разве только.
